Error Analysis of English Sentence Structure in Students’ Written Paragraphs

چکیده

This research aimed to find out the types of sentence structure errors in English paragraphs written by tertiary students and factors causing errors. employed an explanatory mixed-method design. Fourth-semester from department IAIN Curup were engaged as subjects this research. Positivism-governed document analyses constructivism-based interviews conducted solicit data desired. The quantitative findings garnered endorsing a ready-to-use construct proposed Dulay, Burt, Krashen (1982), revealed that there four made, namely omission, addition, misformation, misordering. Those exhibited proximate composition which meant had compatible difficulties terms As uncovered students' writing works, found domains words, phrases, clauses. Subsequently, qualitative findings, elicited interviews, demonstrated extended mother tongue interference, overgeneralization use rules norms, lecturer's teaching material delivery method.
